James Robert Ryder, 64, of Aberdeen, died Thursday, June 27, 2019, at FirstHealth Hospice House, in Pinehurst.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. David Hudson. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery.

A native of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, he was a son of the late James Louis and Isobel Leckie Ryder. A graduate of Bowling Green University, he worked for many years at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum at Fort Bragg.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Roberson Brown; daughters Juanita Roberson and Christinea Brown, both of Fayetteville; son Jonathan Brown and wife, Camila, of Charlotte; sisters Jeanie Glaze, of Prospect, Ohio, Judy Hayes and husband, Michael, of Rhode Island; brother John Ryder and wife, Nancy, of Indiana; grandchildren Seth Shaw, ZyAnn Bethel and Ezra Brown.
