Rodger Loesch

MANSFIELD: On Saturday July 31, 2021 Rodger Loesch was called home to be with the Lord after a 14 year battle with cancer. Despite numerous treatments, radiation, and clinical trials his character never wavered. He spent the last month in hospice at home and passed while surrounded by family. He was 67.

Rodger will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, integrity, patience, sacrificial love, and his unassuming humor. His imagination and creativity were at their best when it came to playing with his grandchildren. Rodger would do anything for them. His laugh and smile will be dearly missed.

Rodger Loesch was a national golf champion. In 1975 he was part of the College of Wooster’s NCAA Division III championship golf team, the Fighting Scots' only national championship to date. In 1976, he was individual national runner-up and a First Team All American. These accomplishments secured his place in the College of Wooster's Hall of Fame. His teammates were close friends for life.

Born July 8, 1954 in Columbus, OH to George W. and MaryAlice (Berger) Loesch, he was raised in Mansfield and graduated from Malabar High School in 1972 where he and his twin brother would confuse defenders on the basketball court. He earned a BA in Economics from the College of Wooster in 1977 and also earned the professional designations of CPA and CMA.

Rodger did public accounting with the former Arthur Andersen, LLP, before accepting a position with Shiloh Industries where he worked for nearly 20 years, finishing there as CFO. In 2000 he accepted the position of CFO with Jay Industries, Inc. and served the company for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Ohio CPA Association, Westbrook Country Club, and formerly served on the Board of Directors of MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

When not on the golf course, Rodger enjoyed working with stained glass. His artisan gifts included lamps, mirrors and other handmade pieces.

He attended Berean Baptist for many years and finished his journey at Heartland Church.

He is survived by his wife Sue (Shin) Loesch, whom he married August 23, 1980; their children Mi-Sun (Zach) Bostick and Gregory Loesch; grandchildren Addie Loesch, Penny Bostick, Kruz Bostick, Ava Bostick, and Huck Bostick; his father Dr. George W. Loesch of Mansfield; brothers Greg (Lynne) Loesch of Bellville, and his twin brother Rodney (Lynn) Loesch of Easton, CT; sister Mary (Neil) Saunders of Carey, NC; sisters-in-law Rhonda Shin of Newark, DE and Jamie (Ken) Chi of Irvine, CA; aunt Barb Berger of Mansfield; cousins Terri (Barry) Davis, Laurie (Bruce) Baker, and John (Kim) Berger; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother MaryAlice Berger Loesch and younger brother James Andrew “Jim” Loesch.

The Loesch family will receive friends Friday, August 6, 2021 from 3 to 7 pm at Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield. A worship service giving glory to God for the life of Rodger Loesch will be held Saturday at 11 am at the same location. His brother, Pastor Greg Loesch, will officiate. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rodger’s memory to Richland Pregnancy Services or Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made at the funeral.

Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Loesch family. Share your support with them – and watch Rodger’s tribute video – online at: SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
